Work in Progress

I spent yesterday afternoon with Landon and Autumn of Hunter Farms. People like this make me excited about the work I do and I am thrilled to be able to partner with them for this web design. For a bit of personal history, Autumn and I went to elementary school together. If I am not mistaken, I think she was a year below me. Landon and I went to high school together. And the three of us together were in marching band. I moved away right after high school, so yesterday was the first time we’ve seen each other since 2006 — 12.5 years!

Hunter farms is a fifth-generation family farm. Their origins in dairy and tobacco, transitioned to field corn and soybeans, is now a produce and beef operation sourcing to six local farmers markets, several restaurants, groceries, and fruit stands. And if you’re in the neighborhood, you can also show up to buy directly from the source. Their decision to shift from strict monocultures to niche farming is hopeful. Landon and Autumn serve on several local and regional committees, attending seminars and conferences regularly in order to learn and better serve their community. I can’t express enough the importance of knowing where your food comes from. I am so grateful for what this family offers our community.
